Duties
Under the guidance of the Chief and Deputy Chief, Consolidated Processing Unit (CPU), works on highly complex issues related to the processing of pay and benefits of Bureau of Prisons (BOP) staff. Responsible for handling the most complicated assignments which may involve unique issues having broad national impact. Must maintain a close working relationship with program analysts at NFC and management analysts in Department of Justice’s (DOJ) System Analysis and Review Group (SARG) to facilitate information flow, identify problems and provide assistance with special or unique studies and projects. Position requires a high degree of technical knowledge in the NFC system as well as pay regulations in order for the incumbent to function as a subject matter expert in government pay setting and the correction of actions rejected by the automated system. Responds to correspondence, telephone or electronic media, payroll and personnel related complaints or problems from DOJ, NFC and BOP staff. Analyzes the overall volume of problems and complaints to locate trends.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience which demonstrated knowledge and skill related to a wide variety of personnel regulations, compensation services, pay administration, time and attendance processing and personnel/payroll action processing.
Experience which demonstrated knowledge of computer systems sufficient to input corrective actions, extract or manipulate information in complex personnel/payroll databases.
Experience which demonstrates the ability to resolve complex issues related to the processing payroll and personnel actions.
