Duties
The primary function of the position is creation and distribution of written 1 SOFSS Marketing content. Under the direction of the Marketing Director, serves as the editor of a monthly magazine. Writes, edits, and proofreads various marketing materials, including news articles, brochures, calendars, feature stories, press releases, program overviews, advertisements, and other promotional materials for print, online publications, and social media. Researches, creates, and reviews articles to ensure the information is accurate, complete, and sufficiently detailed to prevent publication errors or improper data.
Rewrites and edits material written by others and ensures compliance with established editorial guidelines such as the Associated Press Stylebook.
Assists with managing publishing projects from conception to printing and distribution. Develops content using a variety of multimedia formats, including photography, etc. Uses desktop publishing hardware and software to draft, edit, and layout the materials and sometimes to design, print, and distribute content. Coordinates with production; sets priorities for editing publications and other materials. Ensures sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and flow of readability are within journalistic standards and comply with established guidelines.
This position is the primary social media marketing administrator for all 1 SOFSS activity pages. Responsible for creating and maintaining of the editorial and graphic content on digital platforms that includes several social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), marquee, monitors, website, texting and e-mail newsletters. Prepares marketing materials of all types to be used across various online platforms. Updates digital media daily, such as the FSS online calendar, to include accurate event information, answer customer inquiries, and professionally represent FSS as a facilitator, as needed. Research consumer digital habits, stay current on online marketing and social media trends, and implement as applicable to reach next-level performance.
Plans social media 3-6-12 month calendar plans and content and implements social media campaigns on multiple platforms. Tracks and reports user analytics and aggregates data for each online platform. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Tier 1 background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Resident meeting the three-year requirement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Comprehensive oral and written communication skills in grammar, writing, and editing.
Experience must demonstrate the ability to research, select, arrange, and compose material within editorial guidelines, with the ability to maintain well-organized files.
Experience in producing and editing content for multimedia distribution including prominent social media platforms.
Basic knowledge of editing practices, Associated Press Stylebook, feature writing, and photography used in photojournalism.
Extensive knowledge of publishing concepts, editorial timeline management planning, practices, and technologies.
Demonstrated mastery of writing for the web, social media and print publications.
Knowledge and skill in taking and transmitting publishable photographs and social media videos.
Must be a proficient typist in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of editing and print production terminology.
Up-to-date experience and mastery of current digital media opportunities and informed on the capabilities of new media entering the marketplace.
Must possess mastery of digital media social media platforms, including Facebook, Meta Business Suite and Instagram.
Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Adobe graphic design software products, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Must possess advanced knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
Must possess skill in dealing with customers and the public.
Confident public speaking skills desired.
Business experience in social and multimedia commercials/advertisements strongly desired.
Desired experience with target marketing and advertising principles and practices.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
