This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Southwest Region in Albuquerque, New Mexico to protect, develop, manage, and enhance Indian trust resources to the benefit of Indian peoples and provide safe and healthful work environment.

Duties
Responsible for the reduction of environmental risk and liability through the effective management of key environmental programs.
Provides management support with the participating in post-fire Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation (BAER).
Prepare, process, and review of draft environmental assessments and environmental impact statements.
Coordinate, plan, and participate in environmental field survey efforts.
Prepare complex technical reports based on reviews of the environmental situation.
Contact with environmental audit contractors for identifying and resolving facility and environmental management issues.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions).
GS-12: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience include preparing, arranging or reviewing documents required for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); work involving personally writing EPA documents; reviewing NEPA documents prepared by other agencies and parties; managing contracts with private contractors for document preparation, and/or collaborating with tribal departments; serving as senior advisor to management on requirements of compliance and planning; writing Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments and categorical exclusion; dealing with multiple permitting agencies; provide management support in fire management response and postfire Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation (BEAR); synthesizing complex environmental information from a variety of sources for inclusion into documents readily understood by the public; conducting environmental training and presentations; understanding and incorporating management policies into completed documents; coordinating long and short terms goals that incorporate multiple entities.
