About the Position: This position will be in support of Air Force personnel as a part of the 627 FSS on McChord Field, Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA.

Duties

Provide advice, assistance, and guidance and independently performs a wide range of recurring personnel transactions. Provide over-the-counter personal services to military, retirees, and family members, providing one-on-one assistance, as needed. Perform a variety of complex procedural and substantive Human Resource (HR) assistant and clerical duties associated with all services necessary for the PCS travel in connection with official orders. Establish internal suspense controls for the timely submission of corrected transactions and closely monitors until actions are completed. Perform the full range of duties in connection with maintenance and security of Military Human Resource Record, and processing of personnel actions. Calculate service creditable for retirement pay by accomplishing total review of records and application of regulations and Federal statutes. Use electronic systems to create a variety of forms and correspondence and maintain or extract data from military personnel files in accordance with instructions.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical and administrative support for military Human Resources (HR) programs and functions; reviewing documents for accuracy, obtaining information from manual and automated databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer LiteracyManages and Organizes InformationManaging Human ResourcesWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
