You will serve as a LIBRARY TECHNICIAN in the MARINE CORPS COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTORATE of MCAS CHERRY POINT.

Duties

You will assist patrons in the use of library resources by showing them how to find items in the online public access catalog and periodical index. You will answer a wide range of ready reference questions and assists in reader's and viewer's advisory. You will process new, rebound, and reconditioned library materials for circulation and reference according to established procedures. You will shelve books, magazines, and other library materials according to the established systems used in libraries, and ensures all materials are reshelved in the correct order. You will follow established procedures, assist with the library procurement/acquisition process, check shipments against packing slips and orders and maintain acquisitions files.

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing a comprehensive knowledge of library regulations, procedures, and policies, including use of online catalogs and databases, reporting order discrepancies, renewing subscriptions, disposing of items, and maintaining records. In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows:

• I have successful completion of at least four full academic years of education above high school OR
• I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of required education plus the percentage of the required experience equals one hundred percent.
