About the Position: Serves as Health Technician (Physical Examination) within a clinic, hospital or MTF. Works under general administrative supervision. Technical direction is exercised by the assigned physician during the conduct of physical examinations. Assigned duties are performed independently in accordance with physician's instructions directives, applicable procedures and technical criteria. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Assist physicians in the conduct and administration of physical examinations. Prepare examination rooms and sets-up equipment and supplies. Answer inquiries and provide information concerning procedures and requirements. Review medical history forms for completeness and accuracy. Take and record height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse Maintain examination records. Clean and maintain clinic equipment and instruments.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which obtaining vital signs; updating, reviewing or maintaining medical records; and assisting a physician in the examination or treatment of patients in an Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
