About the Position: This Supervisory Transportation Operations Specialist position is permanent with a duty location of Ft. Knox, KY.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs transportation activities related to the 1st TSC overall distribution management mission.
Monitors ongoing transportation support programs and provides accountability for all aspects of transportation.
Manages the communication, installation, operation, and technical support for Global Command and Control System (GCCS), Army GCCS (AGCCS), and collateral local area network for the movement of operations center.
Completes transportation planning projects that identify and implement improvements to operations for movement of cargo to support military forces.
Advises on the development and readiness of transportation operations functions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Top Secret security clearance required.
- Drug testing required.
- Overseas travel and travel on commercial and military aircraft required.
- Temporary duty travel up to 15% of the time required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period may be required if not already completed in accordance with 5 CFR criteria.
- One-year employee probationary period may be required if not already completed in accordance with 5 CFR criteria.
- This position is Emergency and Mission essential.

Specialized Experience: one year of experience which includes 1) Conducting research and studies to determine DoD transportation requirements in everyday operating scenarios; 2) Determining trends in the transportation industry and evolving methodology of operations; 3) Providing input to organizations' strategic plan for development, maintenance, and improvement of transportation operations; 4)Maintaining plans for transportation operations, emergency traffic management operations and continuity of operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower level (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
