As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. The MPI is an annual lump-sum incentive payment that considers agency performance, the manager's individual performance, and available funding.Serves as the Deputy Assistant Chief Counsel for the International Affairs and National Security Law Division (AGC-700).

Duties

Provides expert legal advice, interpretations, opinions, and innovative solutions, regarding all aspects of international law and national security matters. Assists the Assistant Chief Counsel in the management of staff and in representing the FAA to legal officers and senior officials of foreign governments, and international organizations (including governmental, nongovernmental, and industry organizations). Reports directly to the Assistant Chief Counsel.

• Requirement for Managerial Probationary Period: Unless previously completed, selectee must satisfactorily complete a 1-year probationary period to remain in this managerial position.
• This Level 3 (Critical-Sensitive; Top Secret) position requires favorable adjudication of a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, ALL applicants MUST meet the following criteria:(1) have a JD Degree from an accredited law school;(2) be admitted to practice before the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction or within the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico;(3) be an active member of that bar; and(4) demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to the FV-J/K or GS-14/15 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.The specialized experience for this position is defined as:Experience providing advice and counsel on a range of legal matters relating to governmental international affairs and national security law matters; andExperience directing and executing plans, programs, policies, or projects on international or national security law matters.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
