Duties
Serves as member of personnel security team responsible for incident reporting and continuous vetting programs, conducting time-sensitive fact finding, research and analysis.
Serves as a subject matter expert and provides definitive technical guidance in the administration of comprehensive personnel security and suitability programs.
Interprets/applies Executive Orders, Federal regulation, DoD, DFAS and OPM directives, policies, instructions in the investigation of complex or sensitive personnel security or suitability situations with significant impact .
Determines adequacy and completeness of personnel security investigations in order to determine if security eligibility should be granted, suspended, revoked, or denied.
Establishes internal controls to evaluate and ensure consistency in the application of personnel security and suitability policies, programs, and procedures for DFAS.
Prepares written documentation in support of the personnel security mission such as internal standard operating procedures, reports, training and instructional materials, and briefings.
Assigns and reviews work ensuring consistent application of personnel security/suitability regulations, policies, and internal procedures. Assesses training needs and conducts in-service training for team.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as applying an operational knowledge of a wide variety of personnel security and suitability regulations, policies, procedures and automated personnel security systems in the evaluation and analysis of complex personnel security and suitability cases; and coordinating investigations of individuals to determine eligibility to occupy specific positions and/or access sensitive or classified information or information technology systems.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
