This position is located in the Division of Public Health of Crownpoint Service Unit in Crownpoint, NM. This position coordinates, implements, and evaluates school health projects focusing on alcohol prevention and injury prevention. Assists with health promotion activities in the school and community settings.
Duties
Coordinates, implement and evaluate a school-based alcohol prevention curricula in the service unit schools.
Schedules and conducts school-based classroom curriculum focusing on injury, alcohol and drug prevention education.
Recruit students and families in the community to participate in alcohol and drug prevention projects.
Manages, administer and enter data into appropriate software program for data analysis.
Collaborates with tribal and non-profit organization to develop, implement and evaluate a family component of the alcohol prevention program in the schools.
Develops and disseminates culturally appropriate educational material.
Assists the Recreation Specialist (School Health) with health promotion activities in the schools.
Qualifications

Individual Occupational Requirements
Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): GS-06: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Substitution of Education is not applicable
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Implementing classroom curricula; recruiting students to participate in peer education projects; coordinating preventive activities; knowledge of alcohol prevention concepts, methodologies, and theories; developing preventive/intervention projects for the youth and the community; knowledge and skills in teaching to conduct educational sessions to youths and adults; knowledge of health promotion disease prevention concepts, methodologies, and theories; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
