The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work as a first-level supervisor in the Aerial Delivery Flight.
Duties
- Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily or by project basis.
- Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes.
- Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans and recommends them to supervisors.
- Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Supports the agency's EEO program through allocation of personnel to participate in community outreach and recruitment programs, ensures full cooperation of employees with EEO office officials.
- Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. Operates forklift truck, aircraft loaders, and tractor trailer vehicles alongside subordinates, as needed, to transport aerial delivery assets to/from aircraft and/or drop zone.

- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance as a condition of employment.
- Drug Testing: This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
- The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours
- The work requires walking to and around job sites within installation facilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by higher level leadership.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5200 Miscellaneous Occupations Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised.
4. Knowledge of various forklift trucks, aircraft loader vehicles, and tractor trailer operations.
5. Knowledge to perform required operator and preventive maintenance services, and to immediately report problems, mechanical defects, and other improper conditions to the supervisor.
6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
