This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA.

Duties

Ensure communications links between mid-tier and desktop computers are operational. Review contract proposals and monitor vendor performance in fulfilling contractual obligations. Analyze hardware and software devices to ensure effective administration and management of automation requirements. Work with remote and off-depot users when logon and connectivity problems occur. Write shell programs to implement new functions and facilitate migration to state-of-the-art systems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Secret Security clearance is required.
• A 1 year probationary period may be required.
• Must meet the DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program requirements within 6 months of employment.
• Must be willing to travel on official duty 10% of the time.
• Must be willing to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
• Must be able to obtain an IT Level I Clearance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Basic Requirement for: IT Specialist (Network Services/Systems Administration) Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Advising customers on network system operations, hardware specifications, and personnel applications; 2) Reviewing contracts proposals to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled; 3) Maintaining the required system security software AND 4) Providing implementation planning, user training, and application program support for mid-tier systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). The specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
