About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command 500th Military Intelligence 715th Military Intelligence Battalion.

Duties

Advise the Brigade S3 and subordinate cryptologic elements on all cryptologic matters affecting Brigade operations and planning efforts. Maintain situational awareness and understanding of current Brigade operations and provide detailed courses of action and complete operational plans as needed. Manage the cryptologic intelligence cycle and operations, and requisite manning training, equipping considerations, as well as programmatic activities within the Brigade. Communicate Brigade’s cryptologic vision to higher authorities; manages internal Brigade projects and sees them to completion. Serve as the Brigade Primary Signals Intelligence Oversight and Compliance Officer. Initiate mechanisms to ensure Brigade cryptologic operations are synchronized with and/or support National or theater Intelligence objectives as able.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
• All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
• TDY maybe required less than 25% of time, with additional travel within the local commuting area.
• Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.

This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).
