Duties

Manage the day-to-day operations of the practice, allowing clinical staff to focus on patient care needs unencumbered by administrative tasks. Utilize a working knowledge of healthcare administration and business practices, implement strategies to maximize practice capacity for enrollment and workload in support of the organization performance plan. Assist in the development and implementation of effective patient care systems to achieve practice compliance with policies, manuals and Operations Orders for the practice. Ensure staff is properly trained in all aspects of risk and safety, including infection control, environmental hazards and medication errors. Reconcile any staffing requirements discrepancies with the manpower office.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for a Health System Specialist: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting in the development and implementation of effective patient care systems; utilizing data from databases to monitor, trend, and analyze objective performance measures; and assisting with managing daily operations. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
