This position is located in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Field Organization, Pacific West Area (PWA), Location Support Staff located in Pullman, WA.
In this position, you will support the supervisor and the staff by performing various administrative and clerical duties that support the organization's primary mission.
Duties
Responds to routine and nontechnical requests for information available from the files or other office records.
Prepares and transmits Time and Attendance records and reports for office staff.
Maintains calendar and schedules appointments for the supervisor with authority to commit supervisor's time based on a knowledge of his/her interests, commitments, and work schedule.
Establishes and maintains the office filing system(s) to meet program needs for information storage and retrieval.
Arranges travel for staff, including scheduling transportation, making room reservations, preparing travel authorizations and itineraries, and preparing travel vouchers.
Assists supervisor's subordinates in the procedural aspects of expediting the work of the office, including distributing the workload of clerical help to take care of fluctuating workloads.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

Qualifications

GS-05:
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-05 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-04 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience maintaining a calendar and schedules appointments; scheduling meetings or conferences; and using office automation software packages and equipment to type, edit, or format documents.
OR
Successful completion of four years above high school.
OR
A combination of education and experience.
GS-06:
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience determining nature of call or business of visitors to initiates the appropriate action; organizing meetings, planning sessions or conferences; and providing information to supervisors for preparation of the budget.
Applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
