The incumbent serves as a principal technical expert within the Training & Standards Group, AJF-3200. As an Aerospace Engineering Technician expert, the incumbent works as the interoffice focal point, performing work requiring highly complex & challenging technical activities. Develops, administers, & ensures CASS/Reliability successfully monitor, analyze & optimize the performance & effectiveness to ensure compliance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

Duties

Provides authoritative information and leadership on policy and interpretation of regulations for work of broad scope and complexity associated with analyzing, designing, altering, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, and/or evaluating the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible. ls the main focal point and facilitator of the CASS Review Board meetings and is responsible for the development and distribution of the CASS/Reliability report and presentation.

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • A physical may be required.
  • Applicant must possess an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-I (GS/FG-13) level, applicants must have at least 52 weeks of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FV-H (GS/FG-12) level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes experience with regulatory framework in program operates; experience negotiating and leading the achievement of goals and objectives of aircraft maintenance programs; experience in applying analysis and resolution of very complex or sensitive problems related quality assurance and quality control; Experience involving the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems with responsibility for certifying airworthiness; Experience with directing and coordinating resources to provide maintenance/inspections on highly modified aviation platforms; Experience in the oversight of an aircraft/avionics maintenance program in accordance with established standards, policies, practices and procedures.To qualify for this position at the FV-J (GS/FG-14) level, applicants must have at least 52 weeks of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FV-I (GS/FG-13) level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes experience with regulatory framework in program operates; experience in applying analysis and resolution of very complex or sensitive problems related quality assurance and quality control; experience involving the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems with responsibility for certifying airworthiness; experience with directing and coordinating resources to provide maintenance/inspections on highly modified aviation platforms; experience in the oversight of an aircraft/avionics maintenance program in accordance with established standards, policies, practices and procedures; experience negotiating and leading the achievement of goals and objectives of aircraft maintenance programs.In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective placement factor for all band levels of this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Applicants who do not possess this criterion are ineligible for further consideration.SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF): Applicants must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate. A copy of your A&P certificate (front and back) must be uploaded to receive consideration for this position.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
