DON Pathways Internship Program You will serve as a Student Trainee (Public Affairs Specialist) in the Pathways Internship Program of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY. Duties

You will assist the STEM outreach team in the planning and execution of lab-wide strategy to build interest among students in grades K-12 and at college level. You will assist with production the organization's internal newsletter. You will assist in delivering timely and accurate lab-wide announcements on the organization's internal communications sites. You will assist in the editorial processes to monitor and track content processes for creation and delivery. You will review publications to determine suitability for release. You will assist in processing Freedom of Information Act requests. You will assist in distributing content for mass internal and external audiences via a number of electronic channels, including websites and social media.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the NO-01 Pay Band you must meet the following required level of education:*Currently accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a High School, an accredited college (including 2-year and 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate on at least a half-time basis. A certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of fill-time study that is part of an accredited college level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum. All educational requirements and documentation to verify your eligibility for this position must be provided prior to Entrance on Duty. Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) Requirement: This position requires you to currently possess and maintain an overall G.P.A. of 2.5 or greater out of a 4.0 scale. (G.P.A.'s are rounded to one decimal place. QUALIFYING EDUCATION:

Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education:
1) A high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body, or a home-school curriculum that has been approved by such a body or a State;
OR
2) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education:
(i) A technical or vocational school;
(ii) A 2-year or 4-year college or university;
(iii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or (iv) A home-school curriculum.

For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you must submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.
