The Management Assistant GS-0344-07 is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS), in the Office of the Director, Quality, Safety, and Value Service (QSV), Decatur GA.
Duties
Reporting, Program Implementation, and Data Analysis
Prepares charts, graphs, and narrative information for management reports. Utilizes automated systems to generate various reports, create statistical diagrams, organization and workflow charts, and other graphics. Analyzes and synthesizes data from diverse sources in a variety of formats. Prepares reports and completed policies for dissemination, briefing and publication. Written work describes data collection method used and incorporates process and procedures impacted by the QSV. Analysis of data and productions of reports are used by management to increase organizational effectiveness.
General Clerical and Assistance Work
Provides customer service while supporting VA's mission. Consistently communicates and treats customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established laws, regulations, policies and procedures; handles conflict, complexity and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Travel Coordination
Serves as the QSV Travel System Coordinator for employees traveling to VA locations and VISNs to perform their duties. Responsible for arranging travel and accommodation, scheduling meetings, and providing information for Chie£'Deputy. Accurately prepares travel orders and vouchers. Advanced knowledge and understanding of travel rules, guidelines, regulations, and precedents, to the extent to provide authoritative consultative advice regarding travel, to employees at all levels of the organization.
Government Purchase Card (GPC) Services
Utilizes basic data gathering skills or fact-finding analysis to determine the most appropriate purchase to increase program effectiveness. Coordinates the payment of required services and small purchases.
VATAS Timekeeping
Serves as the QSV VATAS timekeeper who updates the routing structure of the agency with the Fiscal Services Center (payroll), conducts training of agency timekeepers performing quarterly training sessions.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/10/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of healthcare delivery.
Developing and presenting recommendations for improving clinical data-management methods.
Collecting and analyzing data.
Developing and maintaining databases.
Serving as a purchase card holder.
Collaborating with various levels of staff.
Preparing a range of reports.

Physical Requirements: The work does not require special physical demands and is primarily sedentary in nature. It may involve some walking, standing, bending or carrying of light items.
