This position is located in the Bureau of Global Public Affairs Front Office (GPA/FO). In this position you will serve as the Staff Assistant to the Assistant Secretary responsible for coordinating and assisting in the accomplishment of administrative operational issues, processes and business needs.
Duties
Analyzes a wide variety of proposals, policy recommendations, office correspondence, reports, and other documents of a highly classified nature directed to the Assistant Secretary 's office for clearance and endorsement.
Serves as a liaison with high level officials of the Department and other governmental agencies , keeping them informed for actions taken by the Assistant Secretary, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, and Chief of Staff.
Ensures that formal decisions and suggestions made by the Assistant Secretary, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, and Chief of Staff are directed to the proper offices for implementation. Follows up to assure prompt action.
Oversees operational readiness of the organization, including all necessary procurements, repairs, upgrades of equipment, and proposing new methods for increasing effectiveness and productivity.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience identifying and analyzing issues in order to develop recommendations.
Experience reviewing and editing written documents to ensure the document adheres to organizational formatting.
Experience developing program/administrative plans, goals and objectives for implementation and administration.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
