This position is located at the Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, OK with the Nursing Operating Room Department. This position serves as the assistant to the OR Nurse Manager. This position is supervised by the Supervisory Nurse (OR).
**Restricted to current, permanent Claremore Service Unit employees due to ceiling list restrictions.**
Duties
Ensures that day to day nursing services provided on the unit and at the bedside maintain compliance with established standards and procedures
Supervises the day to day activities of the nursing staff within the surgery/podiatry/wound clinic and other assigned areas.
Assists the Nurse Manager in conducting performance evaluations, hiring actions, and disciplinary actions
Assists the Nurse Manager in developing policies, procedures and department goals and objectives.
Applies the nursing process to direct patient care by assessing, determining nursing diagnoses, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for all areas of Surgical Services; e.g., pre-, peri-, post-operative and outpatient clinic.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools
AND
License: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they most possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States (Applicants must list their license number on their resume, along with the expiration date, OR submit a copy of their Nursing license that includes the expiration date. Acceptable verification of licensure includes a print out from a State Board of Nursing website [or other applicable license verification website that reflects your licensure status.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-10 grade level) obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing professional nursing care in all aspects of the Operating Room, including pre-, peri-, post-operative, PACU care; providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise to other nursing employees by making work schedules and assignments, being responsible for the OR board, assisting with policy and procedure development, developing PI projects, and evaluating/analyzing data for quality improvement.
OR
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
