Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley Space Force Base (CO) is searching for a Technical Advisor for the 5th Space Warning Squadron (NH-1515-03, GS 12/13 equivalent). Description: Performs operations, training, and readiness assessments for the 5th Space Warning Squadron JTAGS missile warning and tracking system. Formulates, plans, directs, and carries out to completion a variety of operations research analyses. Utilizes scientific inquiry in the development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance. Performs studies/evaluations on an individual basis or as a team member responsible for completing defined portions of overall assessments work efforts. Develops and facilitates assessment efforts by applying organizational principles and applications to stakeholder processes and procedures. Identifies stakeholders from 5 SWS detachments that maintain assessment process and training documentation. Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, seminars, and professional development related to program planning, advanced technologies, technical proficiency, and support system concepts. Represents the organization during visits with government and industry representatives. A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent professional experience in mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, program management, engineering or a closely-related scientific discipline is highly desired. Advanced degree(s) are preferred. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Expert knowledge of methods, practices, and techniques of protocol to enable the incumbent to function as technical authority to develop and execute protocol requirements. 2. Knowledge of national and international protocol in order to plan and conduct itineraries for visits by distinguished visitors (DVs). 3. Knowledge of headquarters, Filed Command/Major Command (FLDCOM/MAJCOM), and base: organizations sufficient to plan and coordinate visits and itineraries. 4. Skill in planning and directing the details of all formal visits of high-ranking dignitaries both from within the Federal government and internationally. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy; negotiate complex issues?? and maintain good working relationships. 6. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 7. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of the protocol office, and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations. 8. Ability to manage expenditures within funding and program guidelines

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • PCS/Relocation funding is not available.
  • This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
