About the Position: Serves as the Explosives Safety Specialist, Headquarters (HQ), V-Corps, Office of Safety and Occupational Health, providing guidance regarding issues of compliance with the NATO, DoD, and Army Ammunition and Explosives Safety Standards and protection from the adverse effects of ammunition and explosives.

Duties

Operate as lead technical expert, developing specific technical and administrative policies or in implementation of new and/or existing regulations on explosives safety within the V-Corps ammunition and explosives safety community. Provide guidance on proper preparation, staffing, and submission of explosives safety site plans, safety submissions, waivers, and exemptions to include Deviation Approval and Risk Acceptance Documents. Provide advice and recommendations concerning explosives safety site and general construction design plans for both new construction and modification of existing facilities. Meet with various internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and thereafter as required by the position. Incumbent will be required to pass a military deployment physical examination as part of the pre- employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an OCONUS US Forces Certificate of License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government driver’s license to operate non-tactical vehicle/transportation motor pool (NTV/TMP) vehicles such as a sedan or small passenger van.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties as determined by the Supervisor.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain standard Army safety program certification. Must be obtained within twelve (12) months of appointment.
  • Position requires the US Army Explosive Level 1 and Level 2 or must complete within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position is covered by the Drug-Free Workplace Program as a testing designated position. The incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019.
  • Must be able perform a Temporary Change of Station (TCS) for 6 months, but no more than 30 months.
  • Must be able to work under austere living conditions, as well as share accommodation under field conditions (containers, tents and/or barracks).
  • Must be able to perform business related travel up to 60% of the time
  • Must be able to travel using military transportation or non-commercial means of travel.
  • Must be able to receive inoculations IAW DoD requirements for travel to specific countries.
  • Incumbent will be required to deploy (world-wide) with assigned/attached units for periods up to 365 days.
  • When deployed and/or in preparation for deployment, incumbent must meet weapons qualifications requirements for a 9MM pistol and/or M16/M4 rifle. Lautenberg agreement is required.
  • Position requires completion of a DA Form 7708 and reviewed annually with management.
  • This position is designated as a Mission Essential and Emergency Essential position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a no-fee Special Issuance Passport (SIP) and associated visa while assigned to a Federal civilian position in an area requiring a passport and associated visa.
