About the Position: : This position is located within the Human Resources Division, Military Personnel, Medical Readiness Battalion, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, Texas. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the Command in matters pertaining to the use of computer software, specific to processing personnel actions and Battalion management tools and responsible for the day-to-day Human Resource and Administrative operations
Duties
Responsible for processing military personnel actions in support of Soldiers and employees assigned to unit, such as requests for leave, pay inquiries, and other actions.
Consolidate collected data and prepares correspondence, packets, or slides for presentation/briefings.
Provide general office clerical support such as filing, copying and downloading documents, typing correspondence and other documents, receiving and distributing the mail, ordering and maintaining office supplies.
Answer customer inquiries regarding battalion personnel action requests, procedures, and status.
Review a wide variety of military personnel support actions utilizing military Human Resources rules, procedures, and operations to ensure documentation and records are correct and accurate.
Enter personnel and administrative information into various databases; manipulates and retrieves data needed for reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3, Secret security clearance.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) utilizing automated personnel databases to retrieve and/or update data, 2) composing a variety of correspondence and reports, 3) reviewing standardized documents for completeness and correctness, and 4) maintaining military personnel records and files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
