This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Office of Counterterrorism and Defense Operations, Operations (CG-ODO) Joint Strategic Planning Division (CG-ODO-1), under the Assistant Commandant for Response Policy (CG-5R), in Washington, DC.
Duties
The Defense Program Analyst is the primary analyst of defense plans, exercises, and war-games which employ or potentially employ U.S. Coast Guard assets and assists in the formulation of policy and procedures governing the establishment of joint action plans and timely responses for input, data and assessments.

- This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- You will be required to undergo random drug testing.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
GS-13 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience. Your resume must demonstrate that you meet ALL the specialized experience below:
Providing advice/technical guidance to others on Joint Planning and Strategic Mobility Operations; AND
Assists with contingency planning, exercise planning, crisis readiness planning, or strategic operational planning; AND
Utilizing a logistics support management system such as Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES); AND
Participating in defense plans, exercises, and war-games; AND
Producing high level written and oral correspondence.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
