Duties

You will participate in the development and execution of operations by supporting the specification of requirements, the development of systems or software, the transition of the systems or software to operations, as well as other operational tasks. You will participate in the processing (application of algorithms to improve raw data) and analysis (application of algorithms to extract information from processed data) of data in support of the mission area. You will participate in a wide variety of communication methods to include, but not limited to writing and presenting scientific and technical material, creating standard operating procedures, documenting software, etc. You will perform a wide variety of research with the goal of contributing toward command related problems of current interest.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

GS-13: In addition to the Basic Requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience representing an authoritative source of consultation for other scientists and program specialists and performing a key role in resolving issues that significantly affect scientific programs. Experience making long-range and controversial proposals and defending findings and recommendations in public or high level forums. Experience applying a professional knowledge of the physical sciences and engineering concepts, theories, principles, and practices applicable to the design construction and maintenance of precise time and time interval systems. Experience planning, designing, and carrying out programs, projects, studies, and other work. GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience consulting for other scientists and program specialists and resolving issues that affect scientific programs. Experience making proposals and defending findings and recommendations in public or high level forums. Experience applying a professional knowledge of the physical sciences and engineering concepts, theories, principles, and practices applicable to the design construction and maintenance of precise time and time interval systems. Experience planning, designing, and carrying out programs, projects, studies, and other work. Education

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

GS-13:
There is no educational substitutions for basic requirements and specialized experience for GS-13.

GS-12:
There are no educational substitutions for basic requirements. Basic requirements are required for this position. However, the following are educational substitutions for specialized experience.

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

NOTE: Education and experience may be combined for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
