About the Position: You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist with the U.S. Army Installation Management Command in the Media Relations Branch of the Public Affairs Office located at Fort Carson, CO.
Duties
Interact, respond, and build relationships with local, regional, national, and international media.
Conducts public affairs functions for the organization, ensuring public affairs activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
Responds to information requests on assigned programs from the news media, specialized groups, and/or general public; local, state, and federal elected officials; special interest groups, community, and civic organizations.
Performs special assignments and participates in special projects and initiatives with responsibility for researching, planning, executing, and/or evaluating complex public affairs operations, programs, and policies.
Represents the organization regarding a portion of the organization PA program with a variety of councils, boards, working groups, and panels inside and outside the agency.
Serves as an adviser in the assigned area of responsibility.
Requirements

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing and disseminating informational material to the general public or specialized target groups via news releases, speeches, brochures, and/or electronic media; writing and editing public and informational papers; and establishing and maintaining working relationships with media outlets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
