Duties
Assists experienced specialists in adjudicating background investigations related to employment suitability and position-based security clearance requests.
Operates a USAccess light activation station to conduct DOI Access Card management including card activations, PIN resets, and digital certificate updates.
Collects and destroys cards of separating personnel.
Provide assistance to applicants, employees, and contractors regarding proper completion of investigative forms and use of the e-QIP system; maintains appropriate documentation on the DOI Access Card process.
Performs sponsorship duties including searching, adding, and updating applicant, employee, and contractor information in the data systems during the sponsorship, enrollment, and activation stages of DOI Access card issuance.
Performs record and data management functions associated with credentialing services required for implementation of the Federal Identity, Credentialing, and Access Management (FICAM) initiatives.
Uses personnel and information technology databases to view applicants and cardholder information to identify completeness of personnel data and records.
Provides program assistance to identify management and personnel security specialists in areas including on and offboarding, mail handling, formatting, and mailing of personnel security correspondence, filing and case management.
Obtains PII information from applicants and employees and ensures that applicants complete personnel security forms and processes.

GS-06: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in record and data management functions associated with credentialing services and background investigations, applying rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to personnel security, providing assistant to applicants, employees, and contractors, obtain PII information from applicants and employees.
GS-07: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in record and data management functions associated with credentialing services and background investigations; experience in various personnel security information systems including data query systems and spreadsheet software; performing prescreening and follow-up duties related to background investigations; working with security specialists on background investigations and suitability, applying rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to personnel security.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
