You will serve as a PLANNER AND ESTIMATOR (SHIPFITTER) in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (Code 2300) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will inspect nuclear job sites to determine nature and sequence of nuclear shipfitting installation or nuclear repair projects. You will prepare detailed nuclear estimates of shipfitting work duration and radiation exposure hours. You will serve as nuclear shipfitting work subject matter expert to nuclear engineers and nuclear project team leadership. You will translate nuclear work requests, nuclear engineering instructions and related items into nuclear job summaries for ship repair projects. You will plan for manufacturing projects, new construction, nuclear refueling, and conversion and overhaul work.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
