The primary purpose of this position is to provide information technology support to education activities during courses, equipment inventory, computer maintenance, and VTC operations; and to assist in the research and procurement of future technology and to provide technical advice to the director.
Duties
Provides IT Technical Support for the Warfighting Education Directorate. Performs instructor support.
Maintain the LeMay Center Web and M365 SharePoint Sites.
Manages total IT procurement support requirement for courses, equipment, facilities, budget, and other resource requirements.
Maintain Professional Expertise.
Other duties as assigned. Serves as directorate IT equipment custodian.

Qualifications
This is a target position with known promotion potential to the full performance grade of GS-12. Selection can be made at any grade for which determined qualified. May be non-competitively promoted to the target grade, subject to meeting eligibility/qualification requirements, at management's discretion.
GS-11:

EDUCATION: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Experience: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes Application of a wide range of IT application software design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining applications software that support functional requirements. Knowledge of IT hardware concepts, distribution methods, and practices sufficient to plan and carry out assignments, develop new methods, approaches, and procedures, and to provide advice and guidance on a wide range of issues.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of basic principles of Information Technology Specialist (APPSW) or related field.
Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing.
Ability to learn basic techniques of Information Technology Specialist (APPSW).
Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions.
Ability to plan and organize work and consult effectively with co-workers.

Knowledge of current operating systems and associated technology and emerging trends in the field of courseware delivery. Knowledge of techniques and tools used in web-based courseware.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely and with technical accuracy, negotiate complex issues, and establish/maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of current and emerging electronic learning resources and techniques.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills as part of the support team. Interaction with instructors and students for questions and troubleshooting as well as the need to provide instructions and recommend improvements and alternatives to hardware is required.
Ability to flexibly adapt to changing technology requirements due to internal and external influences and effectively present solutions with technical accuracy.
Ability to master the design and use of the Microsoft SharePoint and Office software applications.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
