Duties

Reviews all operations, mobility, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure combat readiness for the SF Squadron. Responsible for proper security, classification, and storage of classified documents. Oversees the coordination, review, and implementation of SF manning authorizations and military personnel assignments. Serves as the SF commander's key staff member responsible for the overall management of the unit-training program by overseeing the planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating all unit training related items. Serves as the subject matter expert and consultant to the unit commander on all matters pertaining to the availability and management of the SF training program to meet the needs of the organization and mission. Develops, administers, and oversees the management of the unit's training programs to supervisors. Directs the certification testing (CERTEST) program. Forecasts and submits Deployment For Training requirements in coordination with SF commander to ANG NGB/A7. Conducts unit self-inspections and assessments. Plans, formulates, analyzes, and coordinates budget submissions. Represents SF at wing training meetings. When needed or directed, performs and enforces the full range of security forces duties within the military installation. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E6 COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 3P051 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. Education

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
