This position is in the Shared Services Directorate, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU), Office of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Program Specialist
Management and Program Assistants of this position serves as Small Business Administration (SBA)
primary contact to confirm applicants' Veteran status in connection with seeking certification as a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) or Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
Duties
Interpreting laws, regulations, or procedures to analyze evidence to make recommendations regarding an individual’s Veteran status.
Communicates effectively by phone and email to establish and maintain effective working relationships with VA, SBA, and other federal entities to resolve problems related to verifying a customer’s status as a Veteran.
Monitor and review past and present forecasted program requirements to identify trends, discrepancies, and problems relating to the throughput and volume of manual remediation needed to verify customers’ Veteran status.
Clerical work that involves utilizing various VA, Department of Defense databases, and other
government sources of official information to provide feedback to the SBA regarding a customer’s status as a Veteran.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-07) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves (1) Analyzing a variety of reports to ensure quality of processing; (2) Maintaining professional relationships with federal entities; (3) Prepare correspondence for higher management (4) Interpreting laws, and procedures to analyze evidence to make recommendations.
