About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Space & Missile Defense Command/ ARSTRAT, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2 Security Division, Security Team, Colorado Springs, CO 80916. Duty Station Location: Peterson AFB, CO

Duties

Serves as a Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (GSSO) in the development and implementation of SAP security procedures and operating policies. Provides oversight of Personnel Security for assigned program locations. Assists Program Security Officer (PSO) in the planning, directing, and operating security programs of SAP involving policies, standards, procedures, methods, devices, and techniques. Advises contractor management of the DoD 5220.22-M, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Responsible for the program security including personnel, information, physical, and industrial security. Provides multi-discipline security guidance to military, government civilian and contractor personnel.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Requires Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Subsequent SPeD certifications required for this position include: Special Program Security Certification (SPSC).
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial period may be required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience executing Personnel Security (PERSEC) support functions, such as initiating clearances and reviewing derogatory information; AND experience utilizing one or more of the following security program disciplines: Information Security, Industrial Security or Physical Security. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Personnel SecuritySecurity Tools and MethodsTechnical CompetenceTechnical Security Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
