The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a clerk on a shift assigned to the Base Access Section and to process the various security related documentation including requests for issuance of Restricted Area Badges (RAB), Contractor badges, identification credentials, as well as other documents {o include vehicle registrations and vehicles passes.
Duties
Administers support for the Base Access Customer Service Section to include both Joint Base Elmendorf-Ft Richardson Visitor Control Centers.
Issues, controls, and accounts for identification credentials, vehicle decals, and other controlled items.
Provides administrative support to ensure efficient office operations.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS Security Clerical and Assistance Series 0086.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes practical knowledge of standardized security methods, rules, regulations, and principles to provide support to security specialists in security administration; and perform nonstandard security assignments and resolve recurring problems. Knowledge of security procedures pertaining to handling and disposing of classified material, such as classification markings, accountability and control, declassification, and destruction procedures.

EDUCATION: Applicants must have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of basic security processes and procedures.
Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports.
Knowledge of general clerical and office functions and procedures, as well as the basic rules of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and standard abbreviations.
Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplishes multiple ongoing projects.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
