This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as Equipment, Facilities, and Services Assistant in the Waterway Maintenance Unit (WMU) of the Seattle District which includes debris removal, survey, and other floating plant and navigation missions.
Duties
Utilize an automated maintenance control data system to provide system control, oversight, repair history, analysis, data entry, and documentation of current and future maintenance operations.
Develop or update equipment profiles, history, maintenance schedule, and related maintenance procedures and requirements for separate pieces of equipment.
Responsible for accounting data and status changes on all Work Orders for work to be performed anywhere on the project.
Serves as technical advisor on functions and data contained in the automated maintenance system and administering the work order system that schedules and controls the activities of maintenance crews.
Serves as primary government purchase credit card (GPC) holder.
Research sources, obtains pertinent information, resolves problems, reviews requisitions, checks status, and reconciles discrepancies.
Serves as timekeeper for Waterway Maintenance Unit.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Due to the lifting requirements, this position is included in the medical surveillance program and subject to pre-employment physical and subsequent annual physical exams.
- Required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Required to use personal protective equipment and gear.
- Fiscal Law Training required within 6 months of being appointed.
- Must obtain DoD government purchase card (GPC/VISA) within 6 months of being appointed.
- Must obtain forklift operator certificate within 12 months of being appointed.
- Must obtain COR training requirements for Type A within 12 months of being appointed.
- Complete overhead crane operator training for less than 5 tons within 12 months of being appointed.
- This position requires the incumbent to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Statement, form OGE-450 upon entry into position and annually thereafter.

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-08 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in at least TWO of the following areas: (1) utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); (2) utilizing an automated financial management system; OR (3) experience conducting a property inventory. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Minimum Qualifications for the GS-08 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in planning, scheduling, and coordinating a full range of maintenance and repair work for industrial equipment/machinery using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
