About the Position: Serves as a Facilities Services Assistant in support of a Maintenance Section at Lake Washington Ship Canal Project, a Lock and Dam project with an annual maintenance budget of two million dollars. Performs general administrative and staff work in the areas of Facilities Equipment Maintenance (FEM), work orders, data processing, Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS) data input, and other office operations.
Duties
Provide system control, oversight, data entry, repair history, analysis and documentation of the ongoing Facilities Equipment Maintenance (FEM) control program.
Compiles, prepares and generates various reports, records, statistics, listings, charts and graphs, or other preventive maintenance related information as requested.
Coordinates certain specialized testing of specific tools and equipment.
Responsible for the computerized FEM work order Preventive Maintenance scheduling.
Manages and maintains a library of manuals and prints needed for the operation and maintenance of Lake Washington Ship Canal.
Performs general administrative duties such as processing travel orders and vouchers, coordinating mandatory training, and serving as a backup timekeeper.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Facilities Equipment Maintenance (FEM) system Level 1 certification must be completed within one year of appointment.
- Obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Defensive Driving Course must be completed within 6 months of appointment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that provided a knowledge of industrial equipment and machinery, manuals, drawings, and related technical terms such as parts, equipment, tools etc.; AND experience using a computer maintenance management system (CMMS) to track or schedule maintenance for industrial equipment/machinery. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-5).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
