Duties

As an Asset Forfeiture Specialist, at full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Independently manage, direct, and coordinate aspects of the national and/or Special Agent in Charge (SAC) office asset forfeiture program performing a wide range of specialized duties and tasks related to the storage and ultimate disposal of property seized from criminals, corporations or other illegal entities. Develop local policies, procedures, guidelines and strategies to meet the SAC office asset forfeiture objectives and mission. Use analysis, data gathering tools and techniques, and information technology in support of asset forfeiture activities, and collaborate with law enforcement, legal personnel including paralegals, marketers, investigators, and property forfeiture specialists internal and external to ICE/HSI. Provide advice and guidance to senior officials and junior staff regarding the ICE/HSI asset forfeiture program, policies, procedures, activities, trends, and technologies. Develop and conduct asset forfeiture training for all personnel engaged in seizure and forfeiture activity in a geographic area.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Compiling financial and budgetary documents and producing analytical summaries; Analyzing reports for forfeited asset related accounts; Assisting in the direct targeting of background searches, locating assets; and Resolving major conflicts in policy and program objectives and developing and implementing new policies and methods. You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Managing, directing and coordinating a local asset forfeiture program; Monitoring and reviewing analytical reports associated with seized/forfeited assets; and Contributing to the development and implementation of asset forfeiture programs.
