This position is located in Everglades National Park, in the Facility Management Division. This job announcement is open to receive applications from the first 100 applicants. Duties

This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. DUTIES: Performs carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Constructs, installs, repairs and replaces such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. In performing this work the incumbent typically uses simple measuring devices such as tape measures and squares; and hand and power tools such as hammers, bars, handsaws, screw drivers, squares, skill saws, jig saws, routers, hand-belt sanders and drills. Performs painting of limited difficulty using brush and roller according to written work orders or verbal instructions on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels. Assists higher-level employees by mixing and stirring paints, moving drop cloths and scaffolds, and cleaning walls in preparation for painting. Utilizes scarpers, sandpaper, steel wool, brushes, rollers, ladders, air and airless sprayers. Performs plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or solder joints; replaces faucet washers; unplugs drains using a plunger; replaces liquid petroleum gas bottles. Utilizes a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the plumbing trade. Performs electrical tasks of limited difficulty such as replacing light switches and household light fixtures, changing light bulbs, and assisting electrician as needed. Utilizes hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and wire cutters. Performs routine maintenance on campground sites and trails on land and waterways, using hand tools to re-grade and reset barriers to restore areas to original appearances. Cleans and services chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities, and also collects trash. Makes minor repairs as needed and refers more difficult repair problems to higher graded workers. Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments according to established procedures, and reports discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items.

ICTAP/CTAP Clearance: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
