About the Position: You will serve as a Division Chief Secretary within the Nashville District. The Division Chief secretary will support the Engineering & Construction, Programs, or Operations Division chiefs. This vacancy is for 3 positions.

Duties

Receive and refer telephone calls and visitors. Exercise diplomacy and professionalism in determining nature of business of calls. Maintain folders/lists of upcoming meetings, conferences, appointments, project site visits and phone calls and will remind appropriate supervisors of commitment times and dates. Assist in arranging sponsored meetings, events, and conferences. Arrange detailed travel schedules/itineraries, reservations, automobile reservations, speaking engagements, etc. Maintain correspondence log for all incoming and outgoing mail for the Division Office, noting due dates for correspondence replies and tracks responses to ensure due dates are achieved.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
  • May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.
