About the Position: You will serves as a specialist providing primary executive support and administrative functions to the Command Team (Commander, Deputy Commander and Deputy District Engineer) in a District Office.

Duties

Type a variety of other materials in final form from rough drafts, notes, or instructions. Serve as the primary reception point for incoming telephonic, correspondence, and personal visits. Establish and maintain procedures for routing documents, reviews for accuracy/format, and return for corrections prior to routing to Command Team. Review all outgoing correspondence for proper format, conformance with procedural instructions, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, typing accuracy, and attachments. Answer general and specific inquiries and mail information requested by various district organizational elements, other agencies and the public/private interests. Serve as Time and Attendance clerk assuring time sheets are punctual, accurate and complete. Provide advice and assistance to staff in subordinate organizations on administrative matters. Organize the flow of clerical processes in the office and in subordinate offices.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a qualified typist at least 40 words per minute.
  • May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.

For this grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing policies, procedures, priorities, and program goals to direct the flow of the Executive Office; typing, reviewing, and editing correspondence for correct grammar, punctuation, and format; managing share documents, calendars, make travel arrangements; operating automated systems to create, input, store and retrieve information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
