You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/SYSADMIN) in the TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.
Duties
You will serves as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for MATSG-21 and MATSG-23, responsible for ensuring compliance with digital security measures for command IT systems.
You will monitor emerging directives and provides guidance and drafts local policies for related subjects.
You will identify violations of policies and recommends corrective actions.
You will ensure the development, review, endorsement, and maintenance of network and system Certification and Accreditation (C and A) documentation.
You will promote close coordination and productive relationships with host installation IT offices and personnel.
You will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of communication technology are functional and performs the work necessary across a diverse system of various technologies.
You will represent this command to several outside agencies and serve as a mentor for other IT personnel at MATSG-21 and MATSG-23 HQ, as well as all subordinate units of both.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying needed network system modifications; and ensuring the endorsement, and maintenance of network and system Certification and Accreditation (C&A) documentation.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Determining capabilities and limitations of computer equipment configuration, system software, utility programs and programming aids; and developing necessary continuity of operations plans (COOP) for IT related capabilities.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Acting as a representative for the organization to several outside organizations; serving as a mentor for other IT personnel and subordinate units.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: reviewing, analyzing and resolving security problems; and ability for conducting systems analysis and developing design techniques including data and process modeling to advise on the merits of proposed applications, designs, and design changes.
In addition to the experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector devising solutions to information Technology (IT) issues related to the testing and implementation of hardware and physical security requirements AND ensuring compliance with digital security measures for organization's IT systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education, as follows:
Ph.D.or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
