This position is located in the Legal Division, Resolution and Receivership Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, D.C.. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Duties

Serves as liaison with officials of other federal agencies, private organizations, banking officials, members of the public, officers of organizations and others inquiring primarily about the Legal Division's legal and operational matters. Prepares letters, correspondence, memoranda, or reports that may include matters of a confidential or sensitive nature. Assists with or prepares graphs, charts, and statistics for management to clearly, concisely, and effectively express information contained in oral or written presentation of analysis and findings. Assists with managing calendars, mail distribution, procurement of supplies, and making travel arrangements. Serves as timekeeper and performs time and attendance input, generates required reports, and performs leave audits as necessary. Establishes and maintains records, files, and work papers in hard copy or electronic form in accordance with records retention policies and for future use by staff. Performs routine research on select topics/issues in support of programs, as directed by the supervisor or other professional staff, and assists with data gathering, formulating, and analysis of information clearly and concisely.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. To qualify for the CG-09:  Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG-07 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience researching data to produce memoranda, charts, reports, and other legal documents for management use, utilizing electronic databases, and providing general administrative support to business operations (e.g., answering phones, managing calendars, maintaining filing systems, and dispersing information). OR  EDUCATION:  To qualify based on education; applicants must possess a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the CG-09 level. Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
