The primary purpose of this position, IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-11/12, is to act as a system administrator in the Maintenance Directorate (MA) MCCR section.
Duties
Performs system programming, systems administration, and other related system management duties to administer MA Local Area Networks.
Provides guidance and assistance to the Maintenance Directorate (MA) in the area of Computer Systems Analysis.
Represents MASAWD with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
Establishes goals, objectives, procedures, plans and priorities for assigned projects.
Maintains and enforces Information Assurance programs, installs security patches and upgrades and assists in the implementation of section quality and process improvement efforts.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A). Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail , Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving AND at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems and is described in detail in my resume. Examples of creditable specialized experience includes: applying, advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to accomplish assignments such as; develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout the agency; provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
OR
EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years
progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, equivalent combinations of successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related, and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail , Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving AND at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems and is described in detail in my resume. Examples of creditable specialized experience includes: planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. This may include any of the following: planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software; managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment; managing systems resources. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Ability to plan, schedule and track accomplishment of assigned tasks.
Knowledge of a variety of network configurations
Knowledge of computer systems for Windows and or Unix-based systems
Knowledge of security regulations, practices, procedures.
Skill in computer system administration

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary, but occasionally requires normal movement such as walking, bending and lifting of computer or computer related items in excess of 24 pounds with mechanical or human assistance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is normally performed in an office environment and computer complex area with occasional travel to production buildings to support engineers/technicians. Safety requirements/precautions must be observed at all times in electrical, chemical, and noise environments. Knowledge and use of computer room fire suppressor systems is required.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Information Assurance Certificate is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as either a paramount or incidental duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M. the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
