Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Supervisory Equal Opportunity Specialist, you will:
Supervise a staff and manage other resources to achieve maximum efficiency and balance in utilizing the resources assigned.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Find ways to improve production or increase the quality of work directed
Implement ways to eliminate or significantly reduce bottlenecks and barriers to production, promote team building or improve business practices.
Provide technical requirements and descriptions of work to be accomplished and establishes standards for acceptable work.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Supervising staff or providing oversight of the analyses and application of fair housing laws and equal opportunity regulations such as the Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, Title VI of the Civil Rights of 1964, Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act as it relates to housing, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act or other civil rights laws and regulations; AND
- Serving as a team leader addressing a wide variety of employee, stakeholder, and client issues to collect and present factual information to aid in resolution of individual complaints and drafting determinations and Letters of Findings; AND
- Identify and recommending solutions for particularly broad and in-depth equal opportunity problems as well as the enforcement of the applicable civil rights statutes.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Performing analyses and applying fair housing laws and equal opportunity regulations such as the Fair Housing Act (also known as Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968), Title VI of the Civil Rights of 1964, Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act as it relates to housing, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act or other civil rights laws and regulations; AND
- Addressing a wide variety of employee, stakeholder, and client issues to collect and present factual information to aid in resolution of individual complaints; AND
- Identifying and recommending solutions for equal opportunity problems.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
