This is a Direct Hire Authority(DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is a PERMANENT position with USAG Fort Jackson DFMWR, Army Community Services, Family Advocacy Program in Fort Jackson, SC.
Duties
Provides social case work, and individual, group, family consultation, education, and prevention.
Develops a specialized Family Care Plan based on the assessment of the family needs.
Conducts pre and post-case assessments to include data collection, outcome measures, statistical analysis for program evaluation.
Collaborates with military and civilian agencies to ensure continuity, and/or appropriate level of care.
Provides preventive intervention services of through a home visitation model for the serviced population who have been assessed to be at risk for child maltreatment and/or domestic violence assessment.
Completes initial risk assessments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- This position requires current valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work independently, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)/Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Business travel up to 5% may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes intervention services through home visitation, such as developing and implementing abuse prevention and education program; assessing and managing cases of child or spouse maltreatment; conducting family-based assessments to identify familial risk factors; preparing reports and surveys; providing community liaison and referral services for victims of abuse. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as sociology, psychology, education, or counseling. Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
