Duties

Serve as a social worker providing individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for beneficiaries, adults, which may include children. Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include factors such as history of trauma, co-occurring conditions and suicide. Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults and children to assist clients to identify and manage personal, psychological and interactive problems. Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interview, case history, and observation techniques, and assessment methods. Provide case management services to effectively manage patients enrolled in behavioral intensive outpatient behavioral programs and prevent crises. Regularly coordinates with other clinics, family advocacy program, Army Substance Abuse Program, installation chaplain services, Service Member commands, social service agencies, schools, and other organizations that support the patient. Execute performance initiatives through revision of clinical standards and procedures. Perform a variety of quality management/quality assurance duties to meet the Joint Commission (TJC) requirements. Provide reports and approves consults

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 5% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
• Physical exam may be required.
• Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
• Child Care Checks: This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• Required to possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license from a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• This position requires credentialing. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to meet credentialing requirements
• Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted national license as a Clinical Social Worker.
• Required to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
• This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). AND Licensure: GS-12 Social Worker positions require a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
