You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY AND HEALTH (ESH) DEPARTMENT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

You will design, develop, manage and/ or implement multiple safety and health programs for assigned organizations, and you will serve as the Enterprize Safety Application Management System Program Manager/ Authorized Administrator. You will serve as the Voluntary Protection Program Manager responsible to change the safety culture between management, labor, and employees to strive and achieve excellence in safety and health. You will execute and manage our secure NMCI compliant web-based Safety Management System to manage all facets of the Navy's Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Programs. You will monitor of contractor compliance with OSHA safety laws, Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) rules, and regulations. You will monitor of SWRMC Production (Industrial) Department compliance with OSHA Safety and Health Laws, Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) rules, and regulations. You will inspect conditions affecting the health and safety of personnel, such as fumes, gases, vapors, radiation, duct, lighting, ventilation, temperature and sanitary conditions so as to eliminate or minimize unhealthful and unsafe conditions. You will analyze statistical data to discover trends, identify accident/mishap causes, and locate hazards and potential hazards to recommend and develop remedial measures.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing Safety and Occupational Health programs by inspecting workplace/industrial operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify potential risks in order to eliminate or minimize hazardous situations.
