You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Security Management Office, 2d Marine Division (2d MarDiv), II Marine Expeditionary Force of II MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.

Duties

You will review and process request for personnel security clearances and sensitive job positions. You will determine type of investigation required and appropriate channels for requesting investigations. You will serve as the primary point of contact with government investigative agencies processing and conducting background investigations. You will determine the impact of potential adverse or derogatory information, exercises personal judgment and discretion to evaluate the nature of information received and its potential effect upon security, and recommends appropriate action. You will complete electronic fingerprints. You will perform administrative functions associated with the Security Management office.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement to accept relocation to other geographic locations if required by the employer.
  • The incumbent must obtain the Center for Development of Security Excellence Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within one year of assignment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Processing security clearances using automated software; 2) Conducting pre-screening interviews; and 3) Maintaining databases, preparing reports, spreadsheets, and endorsements in support of operations.
