About the position: This position will be assigned to the Peterson Hub located on Peterson Space Force Base. This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time. Will be exposed to high temperatures, hot surfaces and cutting utensils.

Duties

Duties and Responsibilities: Performs a variety of simple, manual tasks involving the use of simple hand tools and equipment. Lifts and carries light-to- medium weight packages, materials, and tools. Sets up/breaks down tables for Hub events. Performs on-spot-checks of maintenance items such as: light bulbs, leaks in bathrooms, broken furniture, bathrooms fixtures, and other faulty equipment at the Hub. Informs management of any repairs requiring CE attention or become a safety concern. May perform minor repairs on items such as doorknobs, fixtures, loose screws, fittings, etc., as needed. Replaces all light bulbs at the Hub and notifies management when discarded bulb's box is full and ready for disposal through the CE Environmental office. Opens and unpacks cardboard cartons by hand and removes contents; lifts and carries light-to­ medium weight packages, materials, tools, furniture, debris, etc., and laces them where directed. Uses dollies to move bulky but relatively light loads. Picks up trash and paper from Hub grounds; incumbent cleans areas around Hub's main building. Cleans Hub's kitchen area, loads and unloads dishwasher, sanitizes tables, and labels food items. In the absence of the Custodial Worker, incumbent cleans bathrooms, dusts furniture, cleans fixtures, vacuums, and mops floors. Sets up/takes down rooms before and after functions, checks electronic equipment such speakers, microphones, projectors, laptop hook ups for special functions/parties/events; incumbent ensure that items are in workable and serviceable conditions. Follows contract instructions provided by the Caterer or Hub manager for room set ups. Operates a box truck (approximate weight up to 10,000 pounds) to transport tables and chairs, food items, and other supplies to the Club's satellite snack bars on base; Incumbent independently packs and unloads items to and from tile Hub to the designated destination. Helps with pizza prep line and pizza deliveries when needed. Occasionally, drives box truck off-base to junk yard to dispose of Hub's waste and refuse items. Obeys all traffic laws and safety regulations. Performs and documents vehicle operator maintenance, such as fluids levels, air pre sure, cleaning washing truck, and car battery changes. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment Drug Test. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must be able to use hand tools and equipment properly, and be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must have skill in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing p to 10,000 pounds. Knowledge of defensive driving techniques and regulations. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, reach, and work in awkward positions.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
