About the position: This position will be assigned to Resource Management at Hill, AFB.
This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position, guaranteed 35 hours weekly. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave.
Pay will be set based on experience and education.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is ensuring continuous and efficient operation of the Nonappropriated Fund Instrumentalities (NAFI); MWR, CWF, Lodging and non-FSS MWR activities information technology program.
The incumbent performs duties as a network and system administrator for the NAFIs. Assures application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services. Implements program security measures and tools for optimal customer experience. Configures enclave perimeter firewalls, servers, switches, and routers. Ensures proper system configuration for optimal availability and functionality. Develops and maintains configuration management plans for complex, multi-site, wide-area and local networks (WAN/LAN). Develops network maps; back-up and recovery procedures. Implements network modifications and enhancements. Observes network traffic patterns and identifies performance metrics. Monitors network and Point of Sales systems performance. Troubleshoots network, NIPR, commercial, and point of sale problems. Documents anomalies and system failures for future use. Coordinates testing and installation of network, servers, workstations, cat5/cat6 cabling, Point of Sales systems, fiber, system fixes and network updates. Addresses opportunities and challenges of implementing transformational technology (vitalization, cloud computing) into the Federal environment. Manages accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment. Supports end user requirements and requests. Integrates hardware and software components within the systems environment. Evaluates, recommends, and installs compilers, assemblers, and utilities. Maintains hardware and software obsolescence, and life-cycle requirements. Evaluates new systems engineering technologies and their effect on the operating environment. Coordinates the disposal of obsolete inventory with proper documentation and authorization. Maintains current logs of operations, patron usage, vendor assistance calls, service visits, and system malfunctions. Conducts an annual inventory of computer equipment and software. Organizes the installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. Recommends hardware upgrades based on emerging software requirements. Trains base level technicians on system troubleshooting techniques, minor system adjustments, and equipment maintenance.
Performs supervisory responsibilities such as management of staff, recruitment, and training of personnel. Assigns work based on priorities and deadlines; consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments; and the capabilities of employees. Reviews work of subordinates for completion and adherence to established policies. Provides direction and continuous feedback on strengths and weaknesses and holds employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments. Delivers and advocates recognition for employee's performance and contribution, using the full range of honorary and monetary awards.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Education: Must have Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, information systems management, or technology management; or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in or one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
OR
Qualifying Experience: Installing and configuring firewalls (i.e., Cisco, Juniper, McAfee, or equivalent) and network operating systems (i.e., Windows Server, Virtual Machine (VM)ware, Unix, z/OS, or equivalent); experience working with Storage Area, Local Area, and Wide Area networks (i.e., setting up, providing technical support, and/or maintaining networks); experience using database query language (i.e., Structured Query Language-SQL, Data Manipulation Language-DML, or equivalent) to communicate with database management systems.
Conditions of Employment:
Successful completion and favorable applicable background investigation (Tier 3 Level) is required. This position requires IA certification IAW DoD 8570-01-M within six months from date of hire. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security + certification within twelve months from date of hire.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
