Duties

The incumbent ensures supplies and materials are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics. Leads three or more GS-2005 employees in the distribution area to provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instruments sets, and equipment. Assignments include but are not limited to: scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing, and the distribution of medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and other material. Must have knowledge of applicable policies and procedures as well as inventory systems such as the generic inventory package (GIP), bar-coding, aseptic procedures and Logistics processes. Leads three or more GS-2005 employees in the distribution area of Logistics. Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload. Monitors status and progress of work, makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. Obtains assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly. Estimates and reports on expected time of completion of work. Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies. Gives on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/04/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-05, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Monitoring inventories listed in the assigned equipment listings (EIL). Purchasing supplies using the government purchase card and maintaining accurate records. Checking stock daily to insure first-in/first-out. Utilizing bar code devices to ensure that all stock levels are maintained. Ensure expiration dates are not outdated. Conducts extensive catalogue searches for required information. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)LeadershipTeaching OthersTechnical Competence Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds.
